APEX Day Rehabilitation for Elderly

Apex Day Rehabilitation Centre for the Elderly was set up as a pilot project by the National Council of Social Service in 1980. It was adopted by the National Association of Apex Clubs of Singapore and assisted by Sisters from the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. It provides services and care to the frail and disabled elderly as well as their carers and family members. With the continuing support from both the government, many generous benefactors and volunteers, it has expanded its services to include the Apex Rehabilitation Centre.
Since February 2008, the Centre has been run by Sr Marjorie Almodiel, a Sister from the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Having spent 32 years in the preschool arena as the Principal of Maris Stella Kindergarten, Sr Marjorie retired in December 2006. After a short stay in the United States to do her sabbatical, she returned with a new mission to revamp and rejuvenate Apex Day Rehabilitation Centre for Elderly. Within a short stint of a few months, she recruited a good team of volunteers and together with the staff, they revamped and put up a new programme for the Centre. With Sr Marjorie, there are three more FMM sisters working in the Centre.
