Assunta Convent, Petaling Jaya

Why Assunta?

Assunta Convent is named after our FMM sister Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta whose name 'Assunta' is Italian for “Assumption”. On 7th November of the Marian year 1954, Pope Pius XII proclaimed her blessed. And that was the year the Sisters of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary came to Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

About this community

We are a community of faith - sisters of diverse background, culture and race, called and chosen by God for each other so that we may grow into an evangelizing presence for others.

We are a welcoming community - for visiting sisters, particularly those in need of medical treatment and convalescent care.

"We are women of different nations and cultures, choosing to live together in a fragmented world. Revealing the face of Christ by being a humanizing presence among people who suffer and are on the margins.Committing ourselves, with others to the care of creation and to the service of peace, justice and healing, where is most needed."
