My Vocation and life in the Lion City......
In the family, I am the youngest of 5 girls and one boy. My mom always had the wishes that between her 5 girls, 3 can become a nun but never mentioned to us. And God answered her prayer that my elder sister become a Carmelite when I was still in primary one. Every year at Christmas and Easter, my mom always brought me with two other boys to visit the Carmelite sister and FMM. And every year we always waited for this moment. From that, even I was still in primary, deep down in my heart I always tell my self that I want to become a nun. After graduated from High School, I told my mom and my elder sister who already enter as a Carmelite that I want to become a nun. They really supported me, but they wanted me to study while take time to really know what I am looking for. So, I went to Malang- East Java to study Catechism in Institute Pastoral Indonesia for 3 years. Finished my study, I went to Jakarta to have another experience while thinking what the order or congregation I want to joint. My cousin brother whom I stayed with them during my time in Jakarta wanted me to become a religion teacher in Jakarta. But I refused and worked in the electronic factory for one year while praying and asking God for His direction. That time I was thinking want to join Carmelite or SSpS that I know from my childhood but not FMM. FMM is not even in my mind at that time.
One day, my cousin (now she also as FMM) invited me to attend one of our classmate entered as FMM Pranovice in Bogor. With a halfhearted, I had to go just to accompany her, because we’ve never been to Bogor before. The first impression when I stepped in the FMM convent, I felt at home because of the hospitality of the sisters. One of the sisters asked me, “Do you want to become FMM?” I said “I want to become religious but I’m still searching which congregation I want to join.” And they gave me the book of The Story of Mary de la Passion and Blessed Assunta. I really love the story about Blessed Assunta. After one year of my discernment, I decided to join FMM as a pranovice in 2001 and I took my final vows in 2011. I was sent to Malaysia-Singapore Province and entered in this Province in 2013.
I have been in Singapore for the past 9 yeras in different ministries, such as Indonesian Catholic Community, migrants and also give communion to the sick.Though I’m poor with my English I still do my best in what they assigned me to do and open to ask for help from others if I find it difficult. And I believe that God always helping me in so many ways. I’m afraid, yes. But like Mother Founders always trust in God in her whole life, this inspired me to trust in God that He will always lead me. So, when The Province assigned me to become school chaplain in Haising Catholic School and vocation ministry, I believe that God wants me to become His instrument in this Ministry. Every ministry has my own struggle but I still serve with joy because I believe that God wants me to grow in every experience I had.
